🎮 About Cake Fractions

Cake Fractions teaches children aged 6 to 10 what a fraction means in a tasty way: cakes, fruit pies and chocolate bars cut into equal pieces. Fractions are shown stacked, numerator on top and denominator below, with their names such as one half, one third, one quarter and three quarters. Across six levels of eight questions, kids name the colored fraction, tap pieces to color a fraction, choose how many equal pieces to cut first, compare two fractions, discover that one half equals two quarters, and share cakes and chocolate fairly between friends. Mistakes get gentle hints, and stars unlock the next level.

💡 Tips to win

🧠 What it builds

The game builds a real visual understanding of fractions before calculating with them: splitting a whole into equal parts, reading numerator and denominator, comparing fractions, equivalent fractions, and linking fractions to division when sharing, all core primary-school maths skills.

❓ FAQ

What age is it for?

Roughly 6 to 10 years old; the first level starts with halves, thirds and quarters only.

Do the pieces have to be equal?

Yes, a fraction means equal parts, which is why level one asks kids to pick the cake that is cut equally.

How do I unlock the next levels?

Get at least one star on a level; you earn three stars by answering 7 or more questions right on the first try.

Why don't we add the denominators when adding fractions?

The denominator tells how many equal pieces the cake is cut into, and adding pieces of the same cake doesn't change that. So 2/7 + 3/7 = 5/7, not 5/14: take 2 pieces, then 3 more, and you have 5 pieces of the same 7-piece cake. Rule: add the numerators, keep the denominator. Level 6 practices exactly this.
